In Genshin Impact, Potion Brewing is a mini-game in patch 4.5 and part of the Alchemical Breakthrough event. During it, you will have to correctly place ingredients on a checkered field to create elixirs, pass exams in alchemy, improve potions and combine them to obtain new properties.

How to start Potion Brewing
First, you will need to complete the starting chapter of the event storyline called “Miraculous Potions” in order to take control of the potion shop. Next, grow the first ingredients, from which the elixirs are actually prepared. Then you can proceed directly to brewing potions.
The essence and rules of the event
You will need to place the ingredients into the cauldron, trying to cover the largest possible area in order to increase the mixability of the transmutation being carried out. Once it is 100% or higher, transmute to obtain the potion.
Note that after mastering the advanced ingredient placement skill, you will be able to place materials in the same cells. The higher your alchemy level, the more cells will appear with the ability to stack identical resources on top of each other. You will also be able to save transmutation formulas to quickly make potions.
When placing ingredients into a cauldron, the elixir can gain 5 effects. The type and grade (low, medium, high and high) of the finished product will depend on the effect with the highest value. The higher the class, the more expensive the potion will be.
As for the level of the elixir (varies from 0 to 10), it is determined by the part of the potion's effect indicator that was not enough to achieve the next class. It may also increase when mixability exceeds 100%, a deluxe bottle is used, or the luck bonus is activated.
If two effects at once receive the same class and level, then such a potion is considered combined. They do not cost more than standard options, but they satisfy demand better and therefore sell faster. You can also spend money on improving crafted elixirs to increase their value.
We will add that you will be able to take alchemy exams, which consist of several successive stages . Three attempts are given to complete each of them. Potions made during them cannot be used for sale.
When passing the exam, you will definitely need to achieve its main goals, otherwise you will not pass the test it will succeed. By completing secondary tasks, you will increase your score and thereby receive more rewards. If you fail, you will be able to retake the exam after a certain period of time.
