How to defeat the Praetorian
Praetorian stats
This is an elite enemy, also called the Golem Guardian. He has a 10% resistance to all types of damage, including physical, so in theory you can use any damage dealers to fight him, but we advise you to take a closer look at Geo fighters using a two-handed sword due to the strong Geo defense of the enemy.
In terms of its stats, it is roughly comparable to other elite enemies such as Xuanwen Beasts and Rogue Hilichurls in terms of health and attack. You can see all the parameters of the guard in the image below (2P, 3P and 4P show the parameters when playing in co-op).
Optimal characters and teams
Praetorians have a strong Geo-shield, so to quickly break through it, it is recommended to use Geo-damagers or owners of a two-handed sword. You can try to strengthen the attacks of the latter using the Shattered reaction (occurs when a frozen enemy is hit with a claymore or while falling).
However, you can easily use characters of any other elements if you have them well pumped, since these opponents do not have increased resistance to any element. The table below shows the best squad options.

Where to find Praetorians in Genshin Impact
These monsters live in a region called the Sea of Ancient, which was added to the game with the release of update 4.6. As a rule, they roam alone, but always be prepared to fight two or three such opponents at once. We also recommend keeping an interactive map of Fontaine in front of your eyes to better navigate the area.
The location of all Praetorians will appear here after the release of update 4.6, scheduled for April 24, 2024…

Where to buy hilts
Elevation materials can be purchased from Paimon's store for star shine and dust. Its assortment is updated every month, which makes this in-game shop a good source of resources. Per month you can buy:
- Broken hilt x16 – for one piece you will have to pay 5 stardust.
- Split hilt x12 – for one piece you will have to pay 15 stardust.< /li>
- Undying hilt x8 – for one piece you will have to pay 2 star shine.
How to create hilts
Thanks to Alchemy, you can transform low-level materials into resources of higher rarity. To do this, you will only need to use a little mora and an alchemy workbench (located in all capitals of Teyvat).
Recipes for creating fins are as follows:
- Broken hilt x3 + 50 mora = Split hilt x1
- Shattered Hilt x3 + 125 Mora = Undying Hilt x1
Don't forget that there are characters whose passive talents allow you to save on converting weapon elevation materials, for example, the skills of Sucrose and al-Haitham give 10 -percent chance of creating an additional resource, and Dory's passive has a 25 percent chance of returning the used material.
How to use hilts
These materials are required to upgrade the following types of weapons:
- Crimson Moon Outline (5 stars)
To fully ascend one 5-star weapon, you will need to spend 23 broken, 27 splintered, and 41 undying hilts.
