Walkthrough of the mission “The Treasure of the Old Brigadier”
How to start the task
Before you can take on this quest, you will need to deal with a couple of conditions, namely:

When finished with the indicated requirements, wait for the message from Julian to arrive. He will ask you for help. Move to the spatial anchor “Natasha's Clinic” in Kamnegrad and go a little to the south. Chat with the boy there.
Where to find Hook
Teleport to the Big Mine and follow the quest marker. Fighting enemies along the way is optional. Near the anchor, you will find vagrants, Fersman and Hook. Fight level 31 bandits – their vulnerabilities are shown in the screenshot below.

Next, talk to Fersman and Hook. Return to Kamnegrad and look into Natasha's clinic to find out about the condition of the wounded man. After the conversation, exit the hospital and chat with the girl who will ask you to return the detector.
How to Spot a Thief
Go back to the Rogue Hideout in the Big Mine and talk to Hook again. You will learn from Sveta that four people were missing during the riots. One of them may very well be the thief who stole the detector.
You have to talk to four suspects: a tailor, a cook, a merchant and an assistant. Fortunately, they are all in the same location, so you won't have to run far. We advise you to interview them in the order we have indicated below.
The Merchant
He will not answer your questions, and then he will demand money altogether. It is not necessary to pay him – it is better to threaten the trader with Wildfire and Zele. Not wanting to spoil his reputation, he will say that the cook stole the detector.
The Chef
Ask him a couple of questions and then ask him directly about the detector. The chef will immediately blame the assistant for everything.
Assistant
He will not give very convincing answers, and when you ask him about the detector, the assistant will report that he did not see anything and does not know anything.
The Dressmaker
She will be short and rude, but Hook's intuition will tell her that she didn't steal the detector.
Once you've spoken to all four suspects, you'll automatically be transported to the Light. She'll ask who we think stole the detector. Correct answer: cook.
Note that if you make a mistake, this will not cause the quest to fail or reduce the reward. You just have to complete an additional task that will lead you to the cook.
Investigate the missing detector and find the crates
These tasks will appear only if you incorrectly indicated the thief. First of all, you will need to interrogate your chosen suspect. Of course, your accusations will be refuted.
After that, go to the northern part of the campground and examine the evidence on the ground. Then you will need to find the boxes in accordance with the information on the tags. Move to the circle marked in yellow. There, on the left side, inspect the boxes shown in the screenshot below.
Defeat the cook
Next, start following Hook. You will reach a cliff where you will find a cook and Sampo. After that, the battle with the tramp and automatons of the 31st level will begin. Their vulnerabilities can be seen in the picture below. With a well-trained team, this fight should not cause you any problems.
Having dealt with opponents, talk to Sampo, who will tell you about Balaway, who can repair the device. Teleport to the Goethe Grand Hotel in Kamnegrad, and then go to the desired character and chat with him. He will say that it is no longer possible to repair the detector.
Return to Fersman at Natasha's clinic and chat with him. When the dialogue ends, the companion's mission will come to an end. As a reward, you will receive 350 exploration experience, 200 shields, 20,000 credits, 6 adventure logs, and 60 star jade.
