City of the dead in Genshin Impact: how to find and get through

The City of Genshin Impact Lost is a one-shot dungeon located in an underground cavern in the Hadramavet Desert. The dungeon opens with a torch puzzle, and for completing it you get 40 Source Stones, 5 Dendro Seals, and a few more rewards.

In this guide, we told you how and where to unlock this dungeon, what you need to do directly inside dungeon and how you can prepare for its passage.

How to find and open the City of the Lost dungeon

First, teleport to the boss Unut Setekha, which is located in the Hadramavet desert north of Hajj -nisuta.

Right next to the teleporter is a descent to the aforementioned boss. Jump down and glide into the right passage at the fork. If you have not yet explored these places, then you can focus on the blue guiding fairy – she is in the passage you need.

Then move forward along the tunnel. Along the way, run near the golden flowers – this will allow you to restore some stamina and reach the goal faster.

The second fork awaits you in a spacious cave . You will recognize it by the plants that partially cover the entrance, as well as by the stone-shelled lavachurl that sits in the center of the location.

You won't see the right way when you enter the cave. Run forward a little and turn the camera to the right to see the entrance to the dungeon in the northeast.

Ahead you can see the still blocked dungeon. To unlock it, you will need to light four nearby torches in any order. If you do not have a Pyro character in your squad, then take the hero of this element to solve the riddle. Ember will do just fine for this.

Two torches are located on the sides of the dungeon, two more are opposite the dungeon. If you use Ember, you can not run from torch to torch, but just stand near the monument and shoot charged arrows at the lanterns.

The exact position of the torches is marked in the screenshot below.

When the last lantern is lit, a protective barrier will fall from the mechanism near one of the torches. Activate this cube to trigger a cutscene and unlock access to the dungeon.

Recommended characters and teams

Not the strongest opponents are waiting for you in the dungeon: slimes, molders, hilichurls and mitachurls with fire axes. The game itself recommends taking the characters Dendro and Anemo of the elements into the squad, but this is only due to the fact that you will meet a lot of slimes of different elements, which are easier to defeat with elemental reactions. Neither Dendro nor Anemo will need elements to complete the challenges inside the dungeon, so you can just bring your favorite heroes with you.

However, you can follow the established recommendation and take the heroes of the above elements. You can also choose those characters that can increase the survivability of your squad, namely characters with a shield or the ability to heal. As an example, here are the following heroes that can make the passage of the dungeon as easy as possible:

Buffs from food and potions

Given that there are no strong enemies in the dungeon, you can do without without the use of third-party buffs. But if your heroes are underpowered or you just want to play it safe, you can prepare food and potions according to your requirements in advance.

Potions are created using alchemy. Two types of potions are available: for resistance to some element or for increasing the damage of this element. If you want to increase the damage of your heroes, you need to create potions according to their elements. For example, Dendro and Anemo characters can be boosted with Forest and Storm Oils, while Pyro, Cryo, Hydro, and Electro heroes will need Flame, Frost, Whirlpool, and Thunder Oils. If you need to increase your Geo damage, craft and apply an Essence of Stillness.

You can buy food from vendors or cook your own. The choice of dishes also depends on which characteristic of the heroes you want to increase – attack power, critical hit chance, defense, or the healing received. For example, Adept's Temptation, Meat Pizza, Jade Pouches, and Chicken Tofu can increase attack power and critical hit chance. Less effective, but also useful for increasing attack power, are Rusti Gora and Triple Skewers. Golden Crab and Three Tastes Soup will help to increase the defense of the squad, and Holiday Juice will be suitable in addition to the Golden Crab to improve the received treatment.

City of the Lost Dungeon Walkthrough

After loading the dungeon, you will be at the bottom of the stairs. Climb down, eliminating the two small slimes along the way.

At the end of the descent, you will see a regular chest surrounded by several monsters, and ahead is a time trial. First, defeat the slimes and molders to get a reward from the chest, and then go to the monument.

The essence of the challenge is to collect 8 Dendro in a minute particles. Use fast travel on four-leaf clovers to meet the time limit.

The reward for completing the challenge is a regular chest and a door that opens to the next room.

A new challenge awaits you in the new room, this time a combat one. Activate it and deal with two waves of slimes and hilichurls.

Like last time, completing the challenge will earn you a rich chest and unlock a new area for research.

In the next room, straight ahead, you will see two slimes and a mitachurl with a stone axe. Defeat them to unlock another door, and immediately move on – there is nothing more to do in this room.

The last group of monsters awaits you ahead. Defeat them to get an additional treasure chest and complete the dungeon challenge.
