What are passive skills in Palworld

We are talking about permanent effects that affect your pet. Moreover, they can be both positive and negative, which is why Pal will initially have a predisposition to one or another type of activity. So you should carefully consider a creature's passives before giving it a role in a squad or base.

Let's add that all passive skills have one of three ranks. The higher it is, the stronger the positive or negative effect affecting Pal will be. As a rule, the best skills are level 3 and are marked in gold. In the picture above, this is the “Happy” trait.

Unique Passive Skills

Most passives can appear randomly on any Pal, but there are a number of skills that appear only on a limited number of creatures, and they often provide quite good bonuses. For this reason, we advise you to catch them as soon as possible and then use them for breeding in order to pass on these valuable skills to other Pals. The table below lists all exclusive passives and shows the Fires that can have them.

How to get passive skills in Palworld

At the beginning of the game, the only way to get new passives is to capture Pals. Since they appear randomly on creatures in the open world, you can easily find the skill you need just by continuing to catch different creatures. This can be done at a later stage of the game, especially when you need to acquire unique skills.

At level 7, you will have an incubator that allows you to hatch eggs. From this point on, you can start looking for eggs in different locations, and then wait until they hatch into babies, which can also receive random passives. Like the previous method, it is also considered extremely unreliable.

Therefore, closer to the middle of the game, when you reach level 19 and are able to create a Rendezvous Pasture, we advise you to start breeding Pals to provide the creatures with the desired passive skills. The fact is that children will acquire from their parents one or several of their passive skills. This way you will be able to get stronger companions. Breeding Pals

As an example, we will look at transferring the unique skill “Legend”. Of course, the first thing you will need to do is get a Pal with the appropriate skill (we indicated the necessary creatures above). Thanks to breeding, you can give it to any companion you need.

Next, take Pal with “Legend” and any other pet (choose depending on what kind of cub you want to end up with – all possible options are described in our guide by crossbreeding), and then place them in the dating pasture. Then wait for the eggs to appear, place them in the incubator and carry out the hatching process.

Now open the Palov container and examine the resulting brood. Most of them will have the Legend skill, but we are not talking about 100% of them. Let's add that you can now use the bred creatures to breed new creatures with the skill you need, that is, you can pass it on from generation to generation.

At the same time, no one forbids you to withdraw a super Pal, which will have four three-rank bonuses at once. The fact is that a cub can inherit up to four skills from its parents. There is even a chance of getting four abilities from only one parent.

If the child received three or fewer passives from his parents, then the remaining empty slots with a certain chance will be occupied by random skills or will remain empty altogether.

We add that based on an experiment with 100 eggs, the players came to the conclusion that most often (24%) passive skills are transmitted from the male Pal. For this reason, try to achieve a situation in which the male parent has the skills you are interested in. Unfortunately, the probability that the offspring will not inherit any of the parents' abilities is also quite high and amounts to 34%.

It should also be noted that the fact that both parents have the same passive does not guarantee that their descendants will receive it. After another experiment with 100 eggs, it was found that the probability of inheritance in this case is only 46%. In 33%, the cubs did not receive any of the skills of their parents.

Underground and ordinary traders

It is not necessary to catch Pals to obtain the necessary skills, because you can always purchase them from Pal traders and underground dealers. Different sellers will have different sets of creatures with different skills. In addition, their assortment changes with each spawn or server load (just go to the main menu and re-enter).

You can significantly simplify this process – to do this, catch the merchant by first reducing his health, and then throwing the Pal-Sphere at him. Note that the probability of catching a person is much lower than Pal, so be prepared to make many attempts. Then return to your base and spawn it from the container.

Look through the seller's assortment, and if it does not contain a creature with the skill you need, then simply put it back in the box, and then take it out again to update its assortment. This will give you access to an almost infinite number of varieties of Palov. However, again, you will not be able to get unique skills in this way, since these merchants will not have the creatures you need for sale.
