In Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer's Respect is a side quest during which you have to find five grimoires: Luminous Shield, Let There Be Light, Heaving Earth, Ruin of a Nation and Howling Blizzard. However, the game does not even indicate their approximate location. In this walkthrough, we will tell you how to start the quest, where to find all the magic volumes, and whether you should give them to Myrddin.

Walkthrough of the quest “Respect the Sorcerer” in Dragon's Dogma 2
How to start task
Ride the cart to Border Town, located west of Vernworth. Then go up to the southern part of the settlement to Myrddin's house. Before approaching the door, be sure to put on your courtier's tunic and pants. Otherwise, the wizard will call you ignorant and send you away. We talked about where to get the necessary clothes in the quest “The Stolen Throne.”
Next, enter the sorcerer's house and talk with him again. He will agree to teach you magic, but only if you bring him several grimoires. Their list will be indicated in the quest log. Below we will tell you where you can find them.
Important: It is not necessary to give the magician all the books at once – you can bring them to him one at a time (plus, it is enough to give him three volumes, and not all five), however, we strongly advise you not to do this, since these grimoires will be needed for another mission under called “Whirlpool of Magic”. Here we will tell you how you can complete both tasks and get maximum rewards.
Where to find the grimoire of Let There Be Light
It is located on the second floor of Myrddin's house, but if you try to climb the stairs there, the sorcerer will immediately attack you. Therefore, exit his dwelling, immediately turn right and go to the back of the building. Then turn right again and you will see a dilapidated wall that you will need to climb.

Having climbed up, turn the camera towards the house and you will see a balcony on the second floor, which you need to jump onto. This must be done with sprint activated. In this case, you will be able to grab the fence and climb onto the platform. Now enter the room through the glass doors and on the table you will find the book “Let There Be Light.”
Where to find the grimoire Glowing Shield
Getting it is relatively easy – go to the village of Melve on a cart from Vernworth, and right near the entrance to the settlement, find a traveling merchant named Dudley. You can buy a Luminous Shield from him for 5 thousand coins. Note that after purchasing this volume, the man will go on a journey: first he will go to the capital, and then appear in the Border City.
Where to find the grimoire of the Heaving Earth
You can get the book from Valdar, but he will give it to you only after completing two quests: “The Prisoner of the Law” (in some cases, the old man gives the grimoire after completing the first quest) and “A Courtesy for the Lawyer.”

Recall that you can find Valdar in the secret library located in the Vaults of the Gracious Hand, the entrance to which is located in the slums of Vernworth .
Let's add that you can get a second copy of the grimur, but it will be much more difficult. To do this, you will need to find a traveling merchant named Elsa in Battal and use the thief skill “Robber” on her to steal the book.
But Elsa appears only in the event of the death of her sister Arletta, who often wanders along the same route – between Bakbattal and Border Town. The beastwoman you need will move along the same path as her dead sister.
Where to find the Howling Blizzard grimoire
The first copy can also be obtained from Valdar – use the thief’s main skill on it under called “The Robber” to steal his grimoire. However, be careful, as this action can worsen your relationship with the character or even cause aggression in him.
You can get the second copy in the Nameless Village (we covered the road there in detail in the guide to the quest of the same name). In this settlement, find a girl named Wendy who is holding a fan. She will agree to give you the Howling Blizzard, but only in exchange for another grimoire – the Glowing Shield. Don't give her the original, but instead give the girl a fake called Grim Shield (she won't notice the difference). Below we have explained how you can create a copy.
The third copy can be found in the Cave behind the waterfall, the entrance to which is located east of the Border Outpost (you will get there almost at the very beginning of the game). The pictures below show the desired location.
Once inside, run east, killing lizards and skeletons along the way, until you reach ledges along which you can climb to the second level of the dungeon. Having risen, now run to the west, and soon you will find yourself in a spacious cave with books and a desk. In the center you will find a red chest containing Howling Blizzard and Death of a Nation. As soon as you open the chest, a lich will immediately attack you.
Death of a Nation
The first copy can be obtained in the Ancient Battlefield, inside the ruins of the castle. We strongly recommend that you take it from this place only after completing the quest “For Whom the Bell Tolls”, otherwise you may experience bugs. Oscar, by the way, will lead you straight to this magical volume.
The second copy can be found in the chest located in the Cave behind the waterfall. Above we showed how you can get there. It lies in the same place as the Howling Blizzard.
How to create fake grimoires
If you want to make copies of magic books, then you just need to go to Ibrahim's Hardware Shop, which is located in Border Town. Select the answer “Order a fake”, click on the desired grimoire and pay 6 thousand coins for the work. Then wait about 1.5-2 days until Ibrahim creates his “masterpiece” (you can just take a nap on the nearest bench).
Note that it is not necessary to create copies of all books, since three grimoires will be enough for Myrddin. However, it should be remembered that fakes have other names, namely:
- Let there be light – the fake is called “Let there be a trace.”
- The death of a nation – the fake is called “Death Hour” nation.”
- Luminous shield – the fake is called “Gloomy Shield.”
- Howling Blizzard – the fake is called “Roaring Blizzard”.
- The Rising Earth – the fake is called “Falling Earth”.
Note: You can even order fakes copies, paying only 600 coins for it. So we advise you to make a duplicate of the Grim Shield so that you can give one to Myrddin and the other to Wendy.
Which grimoires to give to Myrddin
Having collected all the magic volumes and made three copies, return to the sorcerer and give him the fakes. It's strange, but he won't notice the difference. Your reward won't change either, so giving him 5 original grimoires doesn't make sense. By the way, your reward will be: 2100 experience points, the vestments of a day butterfly and the chronicle of Myrdin (you need to chat with him again) – allows you to study the “Whirlpool” for sorcerers.
Note: If Myrddin does not give you his chronicle, then most likely you still have a bad relationship with him. To increase them, try giving him a bouquet of flowers every day.
By the way, if you have previously completed the task “Pool of Magic” and learned the “Meteor” skill by reading the magician’s notes, then Myrddin will ask you how you know this is a spell. You can remain silent or tell him the truth. In the first case, he will stop teaching you, so you will not receive the Chronicle of Myrddin, so it is better not to lie to the magician.
